1. Turn off Gas Supply: Locate the main gas shut-off valve for the appliance or building and turn it to the "OFF" position.

1. Ensure the appliance's main gas valve is in the "OFF" position.
2. Locate the pilot light assembly.
3. Press and hold the pilot button or knob on the gas control valve (often part of the pilot valve assembly). This allows gas to flow to the pilot.
4. While holding the button, use a long lighter or match to ignite the pilot flame.
5. Continue holding the pilot button for 30-60 seconds after ignition. This allows the thermocouple/thermopile to heat up and generate enough voltage to hold the pilot valve open.
6. Release the pilot button. The pilot flame should remain lit. If it extinguishes, repeat the process.
7. Once the pilot is stable, turn the main gas valve knob to the "ON" position to allow gas flow to the main burner.
